In this conversation Beth and I discuss the complicated relationships with food that many of us have and how they may feel even more chaotic during this time of COVID19 uncertainty.

We share how out of control eating often feels like emotional eating and we define what emotional eating looks like.

We discuss how inadequate nutrition and being a food deprived state creates its own physiological state that can create a sense of anxiety and emotional activation. And we confuse our drive to eat and the out of control eating we might experience as “emotional eating,” which we view as being something personally wrong with us.

In our Rock Your Body Revolution Challenge we are exploring the many ways in which eating can feel out of control, and often it’s not because we are “emotional eaters”; it’s because we’re physically and mentally in an energy deficit.
